Where Has My Seattle Gone?

Typically, every morning, that arrow points very appropriately to Downtown Seattle.  Literally.  As in, that photo would be impressive because you'd see these really cool sky scrapers and all (albeit, no Space Needle in that shot) and it would literally be pointing to Seattle.

Foggy Morning

Not so much on this past March foggy morning some weeks ago.  No snow, granted, but no sun either.  I thought somewhere in my "live in Seattle contract" that the sun was supposed to make an appearance by now.

Fired up...Ready to Go!

Welcome to all the hundreds...(okay...well dozens) of new folks looking for Obama/democracy in action photos.

As the project is ongoing and part of a published book proposal, I have not put as much of my democracy in action photos online as you might be expecting to see, but here on this particular blog, you can see some samples of that specific topic and get a general feel for the photography aspect of the project.

At my other blog, Colored White, I tend to have more commentary and I'll make a point of tagging those posts so that you can easily go to say an Obama label and read commentary specific to the project. That should go down by end of Friday this coming week.

In the meantime, posts with specific democracy in action photos can be seen here:

Obama Rally - Key Arena (Seattle) Young ones

Obama Rally - Key Arena (Seattle) Let Me In

Democracy in action - Precinct Caucuses (Seattle) February 5

Obama Rally - Key Arena (Seattle) 4 feet from history

Democracy in Action - Feedback (Memphis) MLK Memorial, National Civil Rights Museum

Democracy in Action - Media (Madison, WI) Waxing Political, tv/laptop

Today we captured so many great photos of fantastic people. But here is what democracy in action looks like. It is all of you. All of us. Young old. White Black. Male Female. And EVERYTHING and more beyond that. I'm so honored to be selected as a 7th Congressional District Delegate for Obama. Honored to tell your stories.

To that. If you see yourself in one of my photos and you want to tell your story, be in touch with me at henderso@seattleu.edu. Part of the project is portraits of everyday people JUST LIKE YOU. It would entail doing an interview and some portrait work and a neat "your story" component that I'll chat with you about when you get in touch. If you're not in any of the pictures but would love to tell your story, definitely be in touch and we'll chat! If you see yourself very plainly and clearly in a photo that is not in a public place and you'd like me to remove it, just drop me an email. I don't head out to purposefully catch people doing crazy things they don't want to be seen doing and as such, I keep it to fair game public events where, sorry, sometimes you get shot (shots fired...the blog name...ahhh!!). BUT, that said, I also respect where you're coming from so just drop me a line and we'll work it out. Promise.

Once more. Thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate your votes today and will do everything I can to make sure that your vote for me represents YOUR stake in this election.

All the best! Bernadette

P.S. Dig deeper on the blogs. There are a few Tibet photos (we have a separate site for those, email me if you'd like the addy). I have a private blog that if you manage to break through, you have to be an invited reader to read. Nothing obscure--Robert (the tall guy that did a fantastic job helping me today) and I are engaged to be married. Deeper into my Colored White blog, you'll see some reference (okay, a lot of reference) to that, but we were boring people to death with the details so we just started up a private blog to capture all that for the people coming to the wedding. trust me, you're not missing out. But if you totally feel like you are, drop me a line with your first/last name and email and we'll get you the crazy 10 question survey that gets you access to that. I know. I know.
